Welcome!
About Me:
My name is Daniel Goodman, and I’m a proactive, diligent, personable yet professional Digital Asset Manager with a keen focus on analytics, efficient process, asset security, and positive end-user experience.
I started my career at Grey Advertising, in January of 2014, filling their fledgling DAM system with historic assets. My supervisor at the time left the company, leaving me with sole ownership of the project. I worked tirelessly with production heads, upper management, and the DAM software engineers to restructure the system from a simple dev environment to an elegant design capable of supporting Grey’s 100+ brands and 150+ offices around the world.
I then took on a new challenge at Clinique. On the brand side it was a much faster paced environment with tight deadlines and a strong necessity to multitask. Clinique had just decided to transition to the Adobe DAM from Globaledit, and it was my responsibility to maintain the day to day operations as I planned and carried out the migration of all of our assets. With the implementation of the new system I also created and improved upon workflows for our Creative Operations departments, updated our metadata schemas, defined KPIs, and brought in new types of content to our DAM.
The implementation has been very successful. Clinique is the number one brand across the board in Estee Lauder Companies in terms of ROI, metadata maturity, data analytics and reporting, and overall DAM technology workflow.
I’m constantly looking at where we can improve the system, analyzing data by building custom dashboards, as well as integrating with other platforms like our project management tool, marketing tools, etc.
Why San Jose State University:
Working towards my Advanced Certificate in Strategic Management of Digital Assets and Services from the San José State University School of Information, I have gained a well-rounded education as well as a deeper understanding if the diverse and intricate profession of Digital Asset Management.
The courses I’ve taken have provided me the knowledge as well as the schools of thought pertaining to best practices, workflow and lifecycle models, metadata modeling, preservation theory, curation guidelines, and more. The classes have also taught me hard skills like how to vet DAM companies, Sharepoint, WordPress, Preservica, metadata analysis, archive evaluation, and holistic asset management planning.
At San Jose State University I was able to be taught by some of the leading minds and voices in the digital asset management community such as Dr. Patricia C. Franks, John Horodyski, Dorothy F. Waugh. These professors have provided wonderful insights and were a significant factor of why I chose to study at SJSU. I was able to do this all online, in a seamless and convenient fashion thanks to the structured program that SJSU has provided.
Below are the three courses I took during my time at SJSU, each having taught me a distinct and vital part of digital asset management.
